If the installation text sounds like it was written by a non-technical mechanic, it was. It was written by a person that enjoyed installing their first filter.
Step 1- change the dirty oil. No use overloading the new filters. Remove the old after market filter and clean the area including the threads to the engine block.
Step 5- Route the hoses to the location where you will park the USPI micron filter. This may be the hardest part trying to find a convenient area to place the filter since manufacturers don't leave much room under the hood.
Step 6- The hoses are 42" and may be longer than necessary and you may want to shorten them. After adjusting the length is necessry, twist on the outer larger shell counter clockwise and it will thread itself onthe the extertior cloth covering. Once in place, insert the smaller threaded connetor clockwise and it will compress the hose between the 2 metal sides.
Step 8- Secure the USPI filter. You will need to add an additional quart of oil due to the capacity of the USPI filter and the connecting hoses. Start the engine and put your hand on the filter. You should start feeling warm oil circulating through the filter. Also check for seepages where something may need more tightening.

Additional information - From time to time, check the oil level as you normally would. when you do not feel hot oil circulating through the filter, you will know it is time it needs to be replaced. To replace the filter, loosen the female 9/16 and 5/8 connectors, dispose of the old filter, and reconnect to a new filter.
